Proper Wig Care for Synthetic Hair Wigs

Synthetic Hair Wigs are much easier to maintain and manage compare to human hair wigs. Most of these wigs come pre-styled and that means you won’t have to spend too much time restyling it.

When Washing

Always make sure to use cool water when washing synthetic wigs. Use synthetic wig shampoo and conditioners recommended by your wig dealer. Like human hair wigs, do not scrub it but instead whoosh it sideways and upside down. You can also pat it softly to even the wash.

Drying the Wig

Leave it in a cool place to dry, like your living room avoiding sun light. Like human hair wigs, too much UV rays might damage the fibers liveliness and color. After drying, comb and brush it (ONLY FOR STRAIGHT WIGS) and apply detangling spray if needed.

Setting Synthetic Wig

Setting synthetic wigs are just like human hair ones, just follow these basic steps and you are done.

Comb the wig from the bottom to the tip and make sure it’s not tangled up and then set rollers with rolling papers and setting cream.

You can place the wig on a sitting drier for 40 minutes to 1 hour but I do recommend you to just place it on a wig stand or Styrofoam. Heat is not good for synthetic wig, so just in case it’s best not to try your luck.

Once it’s dried up, take out the rollers and papers and style to your liking.

Styling Synthetic Wigs

Synthetic wigs CANNOT STAND HOT STYLING TOOLS. Make sure you don’t use

  • Hot blow driers (Cold settings are okay)
  • Curling Irons
  • Flat Irons
  • Steamer
  • Anything that heats up the wig

You can straighten and style your wig on a wig stand and steam it with a cloth steamer on low settings instead as you comb.

Get synthetic wig hair sprays and styling cream to prolong your synthetic wig’s lifespan. Certain human hair sprays can degenerate the synthetic hair fibers.

Although you can use any comb for styling your wig, it’s best to use wide toothed combs for curly and wavy hair. Also try not to use brushes as too much brushing can damage your wig. If you have preset spiral curls or dreads, just use your fingers to brush it.

Storing Your Wig

When you are not using it, store it in a hair net or on a wig stand. For travelling, just get a wig box to prevent it from tangling.

PLEASE NOTE: Although you can use any comb for styling your wig, it’s best to use wide toothed combs for curly and wavy hair. Also try not to use brushes as too much brushing can damage your wig.

Put your wig on and Brush the wig from the side of your head towards your face. Use gentle strokes and never pull away harshly if the wig is tangled. Run your fingers through to remove the knots .Repeat 3-4times on each side. It should create a semblance of body similar to this.

IMAN- By Tress Freedom

6 01 2011

Iman”: (We have this in Black)

We named this curly long concoction “Iman” because it was partially inspired by this legendary picture of Iman (Here amongst other legendary models) .

I love Leona Lewis. She also tends to favor the long curly look.

You can style our “Iman” quick weave as follows:

With a hat for a casual summer outing: Like Beyonce did at a concert.

Wear it with a head band: Like Selita Eubanks and Alicia Keys have done here.

Side Swept for a more formal/dressy look.

With Cool Lines like Jill Scott did in this- my favorite hairstyle. (Just Shuka the Lines and Insert Quick Weave/Wig. It will hold because of the combs)

The case of the Quick Weave/Half Wig & Body Wave- By Tress Freedom

6 01 2011

The “Tress Freedom” Quick Weave collection from our distributor in USA is fun and flirty, but also chic and professional depending on how you style the hair.

A quick weave is also popularly known as a half wig. Quick weave’s /half wig’s allow you to keep your hair in a protective style (cornrows/lines) which allow your hair to grow longer and thus rest it from all the damage you have put it thru ,throughout the year. They are also a cheaper and quicker way to change your look it minutes. And:

1:         Lets face it, having a good weave installed sometimes cost just as much at the hair

2:         You get the opportunity to have more body without having to pay for the extra bag of weave (PS: One needs 2 bags of hair for a good weave with good body)

To wear a quick weave /half wig with a Band, please see the following instructions.

To rock a more “weave trendy” look, simply do this instead.

Some tricks of the trade on wearing a half wig:

Make sure your natural hair color is similar to your “quick weave /half wig” in order for the two to blend in better and easier.

If you buy a quick weave that has straightened hair (a quick weave /half wig that is not Kinky) make sure the parts of your natural hair that are exposed are also straightened by either relaxing it or using a straightening Iron.

Always Use oil sheen to dress up the look. Virgin Coconut oil is a good Example. It adds a beautiful sheen to your tresses, while also strengthening strands and promoting healthy hair

Use Hair gel on your natural hair for better blending ONLY if your natural hair is already relaxed

So, in the month of Feb 2011, hop of a “Mat” or personal vehicle and come see our “kibanda” at a location to be disclosed. Try on our styles, see what tickles your fancy and purchase it for the most reasonable price in Kenya . Go home, “Shuka” some lines/cornrows on your hair and transform your look in just minutes.

Our Collection:

Body Wave——    (We have this in #1 black)

The Body Wave is a style of hair that it very popular with celebrities. Here are some samples of the Body Wave hair style.

Achieve the above look by combing the hair and shaking your head vigorously after to wear it.

You can ALSO kill the monotony of your Quick weave/Half wig by styling your hair as follows.

Faux Bob: For a more formal / professional look. Pin your hair back in the back to give the illusion of a bob like this.

Pompadour: Bunch some of the front part of the hair in the Middle issuing a pin and leave the rest to fall to your back like this:

Wear it with a head band: Brush the lower part of the wig vigorously to create an illusion of Body to your hair like Leona Lewis below.
